Guitars, whether electric or acoustic, are one of a teenager's most oft requested gifts. while boys used to dominate guitar playing, particularly electric guitar, girls are choosing the guitar with increasing numbers. Children are beginning to play the guitar at younger ages. It is not uncommon for 7 and 8 year olds to begin the guitar, even the electric guitar.
