There are several options in how to prepare your printable jigsaw puzzles for use. You can print the images out on card stock, cut them apart, and use them right away. This is a fast and easy activity to prepare for small children. Put the pieces in plastic baggie and take them anywhere you think the little ones might need some instant entertainment.
If you have more time, you can make your printable jigsaw puzzle more permanent by mounting it on cardboard before cutting out the pieces with scissors or craft knife. By adding a coat of varnish or acrylic sealer you can preserve the color of your printable jigsaw puzzle even longer.
For birthday parties or any occasion where you need inexpensive gifts for multiple children consider laminating your printable jigsaw puzzles. After the pieces are laminated and cut out you can attach self adhesive magnets to the back of the pieces. With printable jigsaw puzzles on the fridge little ones can be occupied while dinner is cooking.
DLTK's Crafts for kids has a nice selection of simple printable jigsaw puzzles. They offer two versions for printing, a colored version that can be used right away, and a black and white version that can be colored by children then cut apart. Both have great illustrations that are wonderful for small children.
DLTK also offers a printable jigsaw puzzle template so that you can create your own jigsaw puzzles with your own images. Just adhere the back of your image to the back of the puzzle template and cut away! For a puzzle template that resembles hand cut puzzles visit www.freeprintablefun.blogspot.com. Both templates are simple to use.
Mom's Break also offers printable jigsaw puzzles to download and enjoy. Their puzzles are similar to those at DLTK Crafts but they do not offer a black and white option.
If you want to create a custom photo jigsaw or a jigsaw puzzle that is suitable for gift giving then consider purchasing printable jigsaw puzzle paper to print your image on. Not only is jigsaw paper cheaper than having puzzles produced by a photo developer, but jigsaw paper can be used to create awesome jigsaw business cards.
