Ni-Hao, Kai-Lan Birthday Cake

Nick Jr has directions for a very cute Ni-Hao, Kai-Lan cake. The Kai-Lan cake is made from a plain 9x13 sheet cake. You can print out the cake template on your computer to cut the cake in the correct shape. After you cut the cake, decorate Kai-Lan with frosting and candy (Tootsie Rolls, Laffy Taffy, and M&M's.) The cake should take 1 1/2 hours. It may take longer if you have a little "helper".

Free Ni-Hao, Kai-Lan Craft and Party Ideas

Origami
One of the most popular Kai-Lan inspired crafts is origami. You can find origami templates, here, on Nick Jr. The website recommends origami for ages 3-6. Most 3 year-olds will need quite a bit of help to get the fold correctly.

Crafts stores, such as Michael's, sell decorative origami paper. You can buy a large pack for under $5.00.

Paper Lanterns
You can make Chinese paper lanterns with a template and few basic supplies (glue, string, tassel, and a pom pom.)

After you make your Chinese lantern you can have a Lantern Festival Parade.
