Free Printable Recipes: Easy Holiday Desserts

Kay Whittenhauer
Looking for free printable recipes for holiday desserts can be overwhelming, but it doesn't need to be. Here are some ideas for holiday desserts, complete with links to a free printable version of the recipe.

Pies. My family's favorite holiday dessert- maybe yours, too- is pumpkin pie. In my opinion, the best recipe for pumpkin pie is on the back of the Libby's can. You can find a free printable version of Libby's pumpkin pie recipe online here. Our second favorite pie (not reserved for just holidays) is lemon meringue. My favorite recipe for lemon meringue pie is from Argo brand corn starch, and can be found here. Another holiday favorite is pecan pie. The recipe on the back of the Karo corn syrup bottle makes the best pecan pie you'll ever have. You can print the pecan pie recipe here for free. Last, but not least, the fruit pies: apple, blueberry, peach, cherry, and mincemeat (which is really mainly apples and raisins) are just some suggestions. If you want to go easy on yourself, use the recipe for crust below and fill with store-bought pie filling.

If all this talk about pie is making you think about how to make the crust, I recommend the Good Housekeeping recipe, which you can find here. Remember, that recipe is for one crust, so double it if you need a top and bottom crust.

Cookies. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without cookies! The most traditional Christmas cookie is the cut out cookie. I think cut out cookies are like potato salad- everyone has their own special recipe. That being said, I'm not sure what you think of when you think of cut out cookies, so follow this link for a list of cut out cookie recipes. (I personally, would use the sugar cookie recipe there. And as a side note for all you Germans out there, there's also a link for zimsterne on that page!) Click on the name of the cookie on the list to go to a free printable version of the recipe.

Peanut butter blossoms are another Christmas cookie favorite! I recommend the Hershey's recipe, found here. Another favorite, which is very easy to make, is Magic Cookie Bars. To print the Eagle Brand recipe, click here.

Fruit desserts. If you're looking for a lighter dessert of your holiday meal, think about fruit. One really easy holiday dessert is a fruit tart. I have a fruit tart recipe that's so easy to make, so delicious, and so visually impressive, that it'll surprise you to know the "secret". So, shhh! The simplest and yummiest fruit tart recipe uses pre-made Nestle's sugar cookie dough, and can be found here. Another super-easy fruit dessert recipe is "fruit cobbler". I put it in quotes because it's called cobbler, but it's not a true cobbler- it just tastes like one. I like this recipe because you can use frozen fruit, which works well in the winter. You can find a free printable version here.

Once you've chosen your holiday dessert recipe, make sure to save the free printable version to use for years to come!

Thank you for the lnks. I agree the best pumpkin pie recipe is on the the back of the Libbys jar, it is so easy and tasty. Thank you for the lemon merengue link. I have not made that is so long and I was just talking about it the other day with my mom. Great information here.

You have definitely captured all of the good ones. I really associate peanut butter blossoms with Christmas. If I make peanut butter cookies any other time of the year, they just have the crossed fork tines, no candy.

    Dessets are my favorite thing!
