This free printable resource is perfect for use in homeschool, public school and religious education. Children will explore the water cycle and how it works in different countries. Children will learn about factors that affect water supply and lead to poor crop growth, hunger and starvation. This unit explores sanitation and its affect on water safety and water borne pathogens and toxins. Children will learn why some children around the world lack access to clean, safe drinking water. Many children in first world consumer countries don't understand that to a child in an impoverished country, basic resources like water and sanitation are a luxury.
This free printable unit contains many lessons in all subject areas to help students understand water and sanitation around the world, but also in their own homes and lives. Best of all these lesson plans do not just give children facts and figures. They help children, families, schools and communities learn what they can do to protect their own natural resources and water supply. These free printable lesson plans help children explore ways to make good choices for their own lives and for others with whom they share the planet. These lesson plans will be especially useful for teachers to explore the effects of the BP oil spill on the world's water supply.
