Free PSP Download - Consider the Risks BEFORE Your Free PSP Download

Rob Richards
A Free PSP Download is the way to go, right? Everything you could ever want is on the internet, right? Even a Free PSP Download....right? Wrong! If you are looking for a Free PSP Download, there are risks to consider and this article will address three of them.

Free PSP Download - Risk #1 - There's No Such Thing As a Free Lunch

You've heard the saying before, "There's no such thing as a free lunch" and you also know that if something "looks too good to be true, it probably is". Both of these principles apply, if you are looking for a Free PSP Download.

I have found that not all "Free" PSP Download sites are really "free". At first glance, they may appear to be free, but when you sign up for their "free" service, you quickly find out that what they really mean is that the membership is "free", not the products. After you become a member, each download will cost you money, each and every time. So much for free.

Free PSP Download - Risk #2 - Adware Is No Fun

When you download software from the internet for free, you run the risk of also downloading adware onto your hard drive. Adware or advertising-supported software is any software package which automatically plays, displays, or downloads advertising material to a computer after it has been downloaded from the internet.

What this means to you as the PSP user, is that while you are playing a game or watching a movie using free software that you have downloaded from the internet, you will be bombarded with pop up or browser ads that you did not request. Imagine that, in the middle of whatever you are doing with your PSP, an obtrusive ad for the latest sex stimulation pill on the market will pop up on your screen. Oh sure, you can then close the ad, but imagine having to do that dozens of times while watching your movie or playing your game. Not fun at all!

Free PSP Download - Risk #3 - SpyWare Is Dangerous

Another risk that you run when downloading any free software from the internet, is that you will also be downloading spyware onto your hard drive. Spyware is very similar to adware, but with a delightfully deceptive and dangerous twist.

The scarey thing about spyware is that the spyware (spying software) hat you inadvertatntly download onto your computer, monitors user activity on the Internet and transmits that information in the background to someone else. Spyware can also gather information about e-mail addresses and even passwords and credit card numbers. Do you really want someone elese to have all of the information that is stored on your computer? Spyware will also cause your computer to slow down and in many cases, to crash completely. Not a good thing.

The best alternative to these problems that I have found, is to use a reputable membership site to get downloads for your PSP. Many of them allow unlimited downloads for life, after their initial one time charge. Unlike the Free PSP Download sites, you do not have to worry about paying each time you download and there is never an adware or spyware issue to contend with.
