Free Recipes for Dog Food and Dog Treats

Janet Trieschman
Dogs have been eating table scraps for years. After WW II commercial dog food both bagged and canned became popular in the United States. As humans became more conscience of their own diet they also started to have concerns and questions about their pets diet. Consumers are now more aware of the ingredients in dog food. Most people born in the last fifty years wouldn't think to feed their dog table food except as a treat. The term dog food has become synonymous with store bought highly processed canned or bagged food. Prior to WW II, animals and thus pets fed from what was around. City pets would have a different diet than a farm animal or country pet and pets owned by the rich would have had meals prepared especially for them. With our human interests turning towards more holistic, natural and home made diets; there is an interest in similar food products for our pets. Add to the heightened concerns about mass produced dog food contents and the recall of these products, many consumers are looking for alternative food sources. There are many dog food cookbooks available, but if you are looking to try it out first with a few recipes, then this list might just be for you. Here is a list of online resources for free recipes for dog food, dog treats, dog snacks and the like that you can make using ingredients you know and trust. They are presented in no particular order.
