In this Part 2 piece, we will list more free resources for the independent author.
Amazon Author Central lets writers create their own author page. You can add your biography, photos, a blog feed, up to six videos, and list upcoming events to your page. If you are presently selling books on Amazon, you can add those books to your page for customers to buy. You can also enroll your books in Kindle. Amazon also provides authors with daily sales stats, a spot for readers' comments and other helpful tools.
Smashwords will convert your book(s) into several e-book formats. Readers can download and read your work on Kindle, Sony Reader, Epub, PDF, Palm Doc, iPad and other devices. The site will also distribute your books to major ebook retailers namely, Apple, Barnes and Noble, Sony, Kobo and more. In order for some of these bookstores to carry your e-books, you must have an ISBN for each e-book. You cannot use the same ISBN for your printed books. If you do not mind citing them as the publisher of your e-book(s), Smashwords will assign you a free ISBN. You will also be able to create an author's bio page, provide samples of your work, set your own price and participate in their affiliate-marketing plan.
BiblioScribe - provides networking tools for authors and writers to publicize their books. As a member, you can create a profile, list your books, submit press releases, articles for syndication, and set up a blog account.
Since 1997, Predators & Editors - has been providing honest information and beneficial contacts for new and seasoned writers, publishers, and because artists, composers, and game designers often face the same challenges, these people will benefit from this site. The site will also publicize your first book, whether it is a paperback or an e-book. You can think of Predators & Editors as the much-needed overseer for authors and writers.
If you are an independent author or a small publishing house, you can list your book at Dalatapress.
PDF24 Creator will convert most documents into a PDF file. You can upload your file to be converted, and the site will email the PDF file to you, or you can download and install their software on your computer without any restrictions.
