Free Ringtones: Put a Jingle-Jangle into Your Cell Phone

Jennifer Burss
Many people download songs or pieces of songs as ring tones for their cell phones. These ring tones don't even have to be music they can be anything from baby giggles to comedic jingles. Ring tones are highly popular in recently years and there are thousands of websites which offer free ring tones of all kinds. The free cell phone goodies don't end at ring tones however, many sites offer free wallpapers, photos, and news feeds. There are some drawbacks to downloading ring tones from the web. In this article, there are a few sites and all of their benefits and downfalls. Enjoy downloading or reading about these sites.

Phonezoo.com- This site contains ring tones, jokes, and photos. You can also create your own ring tones using web-based recording software. On this site it is also possible to preview ring tones before downloading them. You can also make and receive comments on ring tones created by others. Nearly anything you could imagine is made into a ring tone on this site, from a baby's laugh to the doorbell sound from the Jetsons. Photos are also available as well, for download mostly of animated characters from modern day cartoons and characters.

There are some drawbacks to this site, always remember things of this nature are often copyrighted and this site does require you to register with them. They also retain your cell phone number. If you are worried in anyway of violating copyright law, I wouldn't recommend using these sites.`

Another site is Ringtones.WirelessGalaxy.com. This site only has a few MP3 format ring tones. There are not tones from many artists available here and the site does in fact provide mostly paid services. In my research for this article it was the least interesting I found.

Ringtones4all.com has many exclusive free ringtones both in polyphonic and monophonic along with a free ring tone converter. This site does seem to have a lot of variety and updates often. It seems to be operated by a single individual and I couldn't find any need to register.

Coolfreeringtones.com is another ring tone "mega site" containing thousands of ringtones, wallpapers, and animated screensavers. They also offer RSS feeds of ringtones and they do not require sign-up. Unfortunately they don't offer any previews of tones or a free converter.

If you chose to use one of these sites to add a ring tone to your phone just be careful to realize your cell phone company will most likely apply charges for downloading material. Copyright can also apply. If you feel you MUST have said ring tone then feel free to download away.
