Free Printable Sheet Music by Three One-Hit Wonder Composers

Andy Fling
Rock n' Roll has delivered to us a long list of one hit wonders, but how about the those classical music composers? Who are they, and what have they done to contribute to the world of music.

Johannes Pachelbel | Canon in D
Our first composer in our hit parade in Johannes Pachelbel (1653-1706). This German Baroque period composer only gave us one great hit, but what a hit it is. Canon in D was originally scored for three violins and basso continuo, and was paired with a gigue. It was forgotten for centuries, and then reemerged in the 20th century. It surged in popularity when it appeared in the feature film Ordinary People, and has become a favorite at weddings.

Johannes Pachelbel's score has since been published in many different arrangements. Here are a few of the arrangements available on the internet:

Albert Ellmenreich | Spinning Song
Our next composer in our hit parade is Albert Ellmenreich (1816-1905). Albert Ellmenreich was a German born actor, director and writer. He spent more than 50 years on the stage, though did find a moment to draft a song that enjoys tremendous popularity with junior high students.

Spinning Song was originally written for piano, and is available as a free printable piano score for easy and intermediate piano.

Jean-Joseph Mouret | Rondeau
Our last one hit wonder is Jean-Joseph Mouret (1682-1738). This French born composer struck gold when his Rondeau from "Symphonies and Fanfares for the King's Supper" became the theme music for pubic television's Masterpiece Theater in 1971. He missed seeing the incredible success of his work by 233 years, but many of us are grateful for his contribution. This work, like Canon in D, has become a favorite at weddings.

Rondeau is available for several different instruments including piano, clarinet, trumpet, violin and harp.
