Free software can be a blessing when you can't afford to purchase something else. Here I compiled a short list of 12 free, useful Windows Applications.
- Mozilla Firefox - more secure web browser with added customization features.
- Mozilla Thunderbird - works like Outlook and gathers email for you in a quick and more efficient manner.
- AVG Anti-Virus - free anti-virus protection for your Windows PC.
- Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Windows PC protection against malware infections.
- Comodo Registry Cleaner - this program, I have tried many, seems to be the most efficient and easy to use program available (not to mention...FREE). This will keep your Windows Registry working in optimal condition.
- CCleaner - this works pretty much like the Windows Disk Cleanup utility. With CCleaner, more options are available and the interface is easy to use.
- WinRAR or WinZIP - these programs will open your zip and rar files. An option is available to purchase a fully activated version. The free download versions are good enough.
- Open Office - similar to Microsoft Office. It is compatible with MS Office file formats.
- VLC Media Player - good for watching downloaded movies.
- Windows Defender - this does come standard with many Windows OS Machines, but otherwise can be download from Microsoft for free. It will help protect against spyware.
- CPUz - provides a more detailed read-out of your PC system specifications.
- Rocket Dock - This installs a taskbar that is similar to the one on a MAC. You can customize different things; for example, changing the images of your desktop icons.

Good Job! Hugz CJ
Thanks for these!
I use both Windows and Ubuntu. I like a good registry cleaner. I don't like to figure what a good one is. It's nice to have one word-of-mouth. I see you like quite a few of the same things I do, so likely I'll like Comodo! Thanks.
Thanks. Very good work.
I'm always afraid to download free software but did malwarebites and love it. Thanks for the list. I now trust these if I want to use them. I also us mozilla firefox as a back up when IE isn't compatible with a site. Thnanks.
