One of the places is the website Chicago Halloween. They have one printable free Spongebob pumpkin carving pattern that is a design of the character standing with a smile on his face. This design of the cartoon character would work best using both shading and cut away methods of carving.

If you plan on having your son or daughter doing most of the carving, then you might rather use an easier stencil such as the free one found on Cartoon Jr. Their design is also of Spongebob smiling, but he has no legs in this one. It is printable from their website. Once you've printed out the stencil, you can attach it to your pumpkin and trace around the image.
