1. Go to the beach! The beaches in Cleveland are fun, they are absolutely free with lots of parking, and they are filled with people doing fun summer activities with their friends and family. Even though the Lake Erie beaches do not have large waves like the ocean beaches, the waves get higher when boats go by, and the water is fresh so swimmers don't get all salty. There are usually picnic tables and public grills the people can use for cooking out at the beach. Families can take a picnic lunch or dinner and enjoy a summer day at the beach.
2. Take advantage of the free arts in Cleveland in the summer. In Cleveland in the summer there are free artistic activities that include: the Museum of Art which has free admission to its general art collection; summer festivals, craft shows, and fine art shows that are all free and usually held outside in public parks; in addition, the Cleveland Orchestra performs several free shows around Cleveland in the summer. These activities are perfect for people and families who have an appreciation for art.
3. For some fun night life people can go downtown and stroll around the city. The Flats are an area of Cleveland that is right on the Cuyahoga River and has a series of boardwalks that people can walk on and watch the boats sail up and down the river. The Flats have a lot of restaurants and bars that passers by can look at and listen to the music as they walk.
4. For nature lovers make sure to go to one of the many parks in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park system. There are lots of parks with trails and lakes with boat rentals for people and their families. This can lead to a lot of great fun free summer activities in the Cleveland area.
5. Towards the end of summer people look forward to football season and one of the wildest places to enjoy free activities is in the parking lots close to the stadium on the days when there is a home Brown's game. There are thousands of people who come at the crack of dawn and begin cooking at the tail gate parties in the parking lots, and many of them just come for the party, they don't even go to the game later.
Any of these activities can make for a lot of free fun in Cleveland with your family this summer.
