Free summer activities
Parents are always looking for fun activities to do with our families. As adults we often forget what it was like to be a kid. Everything now days cost a small fortune. Summer is a time to be outside and to have fun. The summer is almost over, however there is some time left to enjoy free activities with the whole family.
There are plenty of things you can do with the whole family that doesn't cost a fortune.
Skip Rocks. Skipping rocks is a relaxing pass time. As a family you can have a friendly competition to see who can throw the rocks the farthest. Skipping rocks used to be a fun activity of mine when I .would go camping out at the lake with family
Scavenger hunt. In your backyard or even in the house, you can create a hunt for the children. At the end of each scavenger hunt, include a prize for whoever completes it first. The grand prize can be anything from candy to a week free of chores.
Hide and seek. When night falls, gather up the family and play a silly game of hide and seek. This game can last for hours. For the younger children, hide and seek can be played inside or during the daylight hours. Some younger kids are fearful of the dark; during the daylight hours will prevent this fear from happening.
I spy. This is similar to a scavenger hunt but different. I spy can be played in the car with your children or just about anywhere. T he options are endless. I spy isn't just available in books anymore. It is much more fun to create your own game of I spy with objects around you.
Riding bikes through mud puddles. What child doesn't like to get muddy? The answer is almost every child does. Boys are not the only ones to enjoy getting dirty. There are girls as well. Riding in the mud during a hot summer day is a great way to cool you off from the humidity of the sun.
Summer is a great time for kids to be kids. Let them enjoy the hot days and let their imagination grow to the fullest potential. Kids will be kids. And there is so much for them to do without spending a dime. All it takes is a little bit of imagination and creativity.
