The Kalamazoo Air Zoo - The Kalamazoo Air Zoo offers free general admission daily. There are over 50 aircraft to see on display along with murals and other exhibits to each you about the history of flight. The Kalamazoo Air Zoo is located at 6151 Portage Road Portage, MI 49002. The Kalamazoo Public Library - The Kalamazoo Public Library offers children a world of adventure with books, DVD's and other media for growing minds. Besides the endless resources offered by the library collection, the Kalamazoo Public Library offers free summer activities for kids and families. Family Story Time is offered weekly at various branches of the Kalamazoo Public Library. Story time is also available for babies, preschoolers and toddlers. The Kalamazoo Public Library has 4 additional branches conveniently located in Kalamazoo neighborhoods which also provide free summer activities for kids.
The Kalamazoo Valley River Trail - The Kalamazoo Valley River Trail is provides a great nature experience for adults and kids of all ages. The trail is free to use, is paved and bicycles are permitted. The Kalamazoo River Valley Trail is planned to run 35 miles throughout Kalamazoo County. There are currently two of eight planned trails. A 4.8-mile section connects 10th Street to downtown Kalamazoo and a 2.8 mile section runs from Mosel Ave. to Mayors' Riverfront Park. You can take a brief walk along the trail or spend a day walking the trail and exploring the beauty of nature along the Kalamazoo River.
