Carnation, WA - Starting August 12th and going through September 2nd, from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm, a variety of music will be presented in weekly free concerts across from the Farmer's Market on Bird Street in Carnation. The lineup on these concerts is fantastic. From Jazz to Rock to Elvis to the Caribbean, people are sure to find one week that meets their favorite sounds.

August 12th starts the series off with Deems Tsutakawa, a native of Seattle and son of George Tsutakawa. Deems is an international jazz pianist, writer, composer, producer and band leader who, according to his website, plays what he calls, "contemporary soul jazz". You can listen to samples of his music on his website.

The following week, August 19th, takes a turn into rock with The Machine, one of Seattle's long time club bands. The Machine plays a little bit of everything from Green Day, Cheap Trick, The Beatles, AC DC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The B52's, Bon Jovi and so much more. They say they don't just play one decade...they play them all. Band members consist of Brian Woolley, Jim Pomped, Larry Harwood and Brian Scott.

If "Love Me Tender" makes you melt, "Jail House Rock" and "Hound Dog" starts you twisting away, then August 26th will be the music day for you. The summer concert series takes you into a blast with the past in the form of Tribute to Elvis. So for all you Elvis fans out there, The King Lives on Tuesday, August 26th.

Then wrapping up the last week of the summer concert series, September 2nd, takes you to The Caribbean with The Islanders. This trio plays play authentic Calypso and Reggae with steel drums and vocals. You may have heard them previously at The Mill Creek Festival, the Ethnic Fest in Tacoma or most recently, A Taste of Edmonds in Edmonds WA.

At the current time, The Carnation Summer Concert series is being sponsored by the Carnation Chamber of Commerce, Carnation's Ixtapa and QFC, Frontier Bank, The River Current News, Rotary Club of Duvall, Puget Sound Energy and the City of Carnation.

They all sound appealing to me but I might lean toward the tribute to Elvis :)
