Free Things to Do Around Denver - The Best Things in Life Are Still Free

All of these offerings around Denver give tourists the opportunity to spend money on gifts, however, there is no mandatory spending. The best things in life are still free, at least around Denver.

Sure, there's Coors stadium and the Sandlot Brewery, filled with Colorado Rockies Baseball team memorabilia, then there's the Coors Brewery in nearby golden Colorado. "Downtown Brewery" is what a lot of people call the Sandlot Brewery, and tourists may visit, look at the stadium, whenever a game is not playing during the day, without spending money. Visitors are welcome to spend a little bit of time here to gawk.

The Celestial Seasonings tour in Boulder Colorado, is a fun tour at a location with an excellent view of the Rocky Mountains. The fascinating process of how tea is made after it is grown is gone over. At the end of the tour, there is a free tasting, and if you must spend money, a gift shop.

The Coors Brewery in Golden, Colorado is a huge tour, busloads of people arrive at the visitor's center - this is a grand opportunity to meet people you have not seen for years, as hundreds of people pour into this brewery for the free tour. The beer vats are larger than swimming pools, however, there is plexiglass between the visitors and the beer-making. Cameras are allowed on most sections of the tour, although, not necessarily of the staff. Free snacks and beer samples are provided at the end of the tour, or soft drinks as well as a non-alcoholic beer choice for those who are driving.

Mead Brewery tour Golden, Red Stone meadery of Golden, great place, sells Zymurgist magazine, mead, and homebrewing supplies, however, samples of the mead and advice are free. This is a small place, that welcomes individuals and small groups without advance reservations. However, if you are bringing more than a carload of people, please call prior to stopping in.

Hammond Candy Factory is open for tours between April and September.

US Mint - Denver, or the Denver Mint, also a nice walk-by or walk through, the tours are free, although, frequently, there is a long wait on line, so, it's nice to have something alternative to do just in case there is a school group or a convergence of bus tours on a given day at this location.

Films on Fillmore is a summer film festival that offers free movies to the public. This is a fun-filled free event.

Cinemocracy Film Festival, this is a special festival with special dates, something that you will enjoy going to during the summer, and it is free.

Crested Butte Wild Mushroom Festival, only a few days in August, however, it is fun, there's food, and it is free.

You'll like the Denver State Capitol, a good place to walk to, and walk around, from a distance, it looks just like the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C. It's great to be able

Denver City Park is down town, admission is free, the air is fresh and clean, and there are frequently free events and activities at this park, also.

Wynkoop Brewing Company is an excellent place to visit. I really enjoyed the tour, the hosts were friendly presenters who were more than a little happy to have a few guests interested in the process of making beer.

Wild Oats supermarket, this Colorado-based supermarket chain offers free trial or try-on samples of natural cosmetics, and most of the stores have a generous supply of free hot and cold water. There is a variety of organic foods, cosmetics, health and beauty aids, accessories and clothing here that is not usually found anyplace else. This is the closest thing to an organic department store that I have been able to find.

The Great Divide Brewing Company is a fun tour also. The master brewer is a wonderful tour presenter, who explains the process of making beer in a simple and masterful way that can be understood by everyone in attendance.

Left Hand Brewing Company of Longmont is a great place to have lunch, and also offers a free tour

You might have your own personal favorites as far as the beer is concerned, almost everyone does. Avery Brewing Company, Boulder Beer Company, Breckenridge Brewery, Bull and Bush Pub, Dry Dock Brewing Company, Del Norte Brewing, Golden City Brewing, Mountain Sun Pub and Brewery, however, I don't know if all of these places offer free tours to the public. The Flying Dog brewery of Denver is no longer offering tours to the public.

The samples to the beer are not generous, guests receive a few ounces of beer per sample, however, the beer is good and the beer is fresher than what you will be getting from the party goods store or the supermarket. It's easier to get tipsy around Denver than you think, if you are not used to the elevation, you are already a bit light-headed.
