Parking
One huge perk while traveling in the Disney area is that Downtown Disney has free parking. Free parking is a bit rare for that area. So, if you can find free parking that is great. The parking is right in front of everything. This is helpful especially if you are carrying any shopping purchases.
Shopping
Not everyone has a ton of money to shop, but it is always free to window shop. There are so many unique shops to look at while in Downtown Disney. I found it highly entertaining. My favorite was the Christmas shop that was there called Disney's Days of Christmas. I could have stayed there all day. My husband, of course, found his entertainment at the sports shop while my kids were amazed by all the toy shops that were there. A great place to get an inexpensive souvenir is Mickey's Mart - Everything Ten Dollars and Under.
Lego Imagination Center
If you want to see something truly exceptional, you will want to go to the Lego Imagination Center. This is a free play area that is outdoors. It is 3,000 sq. ft. It is made with thousands of Lego blocks. It is fun for everyone, but it is especially fun for children to see it.
Eating
Eating in the Downtown Disney area can be expensive, but even at the expensive restaurants you can find meals starting around $15 per person. My advice is to eat before you arrive in the Downtown Disney area if you do not have a lot of money to spend on food. There are places in Downtown Disney that you can pick up a snack pretty inexpensively. For example, have an ice cream at Ghiradeli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop, or have a pretzel or ice cream at Wetzels Pretzels - Haagen Dazs. My family all had ice cream there, and it was a really nice tasty treat.
Scenery
Being in Downtown Disney is very scenic. It has a very festive feel to it. Truth be told, I actually loved Downtown Disney more than some of the amusement parks. It was just relaxing and fun. Even the very expensive restaurant Fulton's Crab House was fun to look at because it is a riverboat replica that is on the water. If you are in the Disney area, you definitely must go see Downtown Disney.
