Free Things to Do in Kissimmee, Florida

Visiting the Area on a Budget is No Problem

With the current state of the economy many Americans are traveling on strict budgets or not traveling at all. But what some do not realize is that there are many things to do that are free, which will fit anyone's budget. I have researched and found some interesting things to do in the Kissimmee, Florida area that are free (with the exception of dining and shopping). These things are great additions to any Orlando vacation or for the locals who are just trying to get out.

Historic Kissimmee and St. Cloud

Visit some historic sites in Kissimmee, including the oldest continuous used courthouse in the State of Florida or the Kissimmee Sculpture Experience in the downtown area. The St. Cloud Lake Front offers a great place to picnic and see some of Florida's wildlife along the shores of Lake Toho.

One of the most historical features in St. Cloud is the Monument of States, where you can see the different monuments from each of the 50 states. You will know when you are close because as you go west on US Highway 192 the North/South streets will turn into state names. You cannot miss the Monument of States as you drive; it will be on the south side of the highway and has military vehicles by the roadside.

Old Town Shopping, Dining and Entertainment Complex

Located on US Highway 192 near the Walt Disney World Resorts

Admission to Old Town is free and offers plenty of things to do and see, keep in mind there are some attractions, which will charge. On the weekends Old Town becomes the place to be for car lovers. Check out some of the finest custom and exotic cars on Friday nights and enjoy the Saturday Nite Cruise featuring classic cars. This 19-year old tradition will definitely bring back some memories. You can also enjoy live entertainment and participate in the street party. Do not forget that there is plenty of reasonably priced stores in Old Town for your souvenir shopping needs.

Free things to do where you can catch some of the best Florida wildlife include visiting Lake Lizzie nature Preserve, the Osceola County Environmental Center, the Wildlife Management Areas of Bull Creek, Prairie Lakes, Three Lakes and Triple N Ranch.
