When visiting Nashville Tennessee on vacation, it can get costly especially if you have several members of your family or group. I hope that this list of free things to do can help you enjoy your vacation time in Nashville.

The first thing that is free to do and is a must see is downtown Nashville. Just go over to the Second Avenue and Broadway area and you will find a bunch of great things to see. There is Riverfront Park that is free and you can walk right down to the water. Many days you will see the General Jackson Riverboat cruise on by at the riverfront. Downtown Nashville has a tour that you can walk to sight see. It is totally free and easy to find. There are blue/green lines painted on the sidewalk that navigate you through downtown with signs along the way with points of interest. This self-guided tour takes you through areas such as the famous Printers Alley where many country and blues artists get their playing chops polished. Nashville often has many free out door events downtown during the summer. During the CMA Fest week, there is a stage on the corner of 5th and Broadway with many big country stars performing like Rodney Atkins, The Kentucky Headhunters and Danielle Peck.

Walking along historic Broadway, you will find many nightclub honkytonks that have free music. Even though these are free to get in and free to watch the music, please keep in mind that these bands you see in there are playing only for tip money.

The next free thing to do in Nashville TN is to take a trip out to the Opryland Hotel. If you drive there yourself, parking can be about ten bucks, but if you get a ride, this is a totally free experience. There are incredible tropical indoor atriums so you may feel like you are really in paradise with all of the palm trees and exotic plants. There are plenty of walkways and the temperature is always perfect inside even if the weather is blazing hot in the summer or freezing cold in the winter. Be sure and take your camera when visiting this hotel. One of the atriums is names The Delta because of its Delta theme. You will find many New Orleans style structure inside and even a Delta riverboat that takes people around the river that is inside the very large building. At Christmas time, the entire Opryland Hotel is decorated with a ton of lights that are a spectacular sight to see at night. Plan on at least 2 to 4 hours walking around the Opryland Hotel.
