Oklahoma City National Memorial. This outdoor memorial is outdoors on a 3.3 acre sanctuary that that more than half a million people visit each year. It is dedicated to the victims, survivors, and rescuers of the April 19, 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal building.
Bricktown is a neighborhood on Oklahoma City that always has events going on, so there's plenty to see. Bricktown also has a canal walkways along the river that is beautiful to stroll down.
The Oklahoma State Capital is the only state capital that contains working oil wells on its grounds. It has galleries with temporary exhibitions of Oklahoma Artists, and every hour the capital has guided tours of the building.
One place that is a must to check out is Lake Hefner. This lake has many recreational areas, lake trails, and park areas. Lake Hefner was built in 1974, is about 2,500 acres in size, and its average depth is 29 feet. You can walk along its edge and watch the birds fly, sailboats on the water, and kids flying kites nearby. This lake also has, playgrounds, jogging trails, and sometimes has sailboat races on the weekends.
The Will Rogers Gardens is on the outer edge of Oklahoma City. The Garden Exhibition Building is home to the Oklahoma City Council of Garden Clubs, and the building also holds classes and other events. The Will Rogers Gardens is open all year from dusk til dawn, and has free admission. The Gardens is also on the National Registry of Historical Places.
Martin Park Nature Center is a recreational place and a sanctuary for wildlife. The park is open 51 weeks a year on Wednesday through Sundays. The Martin Park Nature Center is home to many forms of wildlife, it contains deer, butterflies, squirrels, coyotes, owls, and armadillos. This park also has a browsing library and a hands on musuem. Enjoy 3.5 miles of grasslands and woods as you wind along the nature trail in this park.
The Oklahoma State Museum of History in Oklahoma City, tells of the rich history of the local American Indian tribes, the life of Wiley Post, settler life, and has many other great attractions.
