San Buenaventura State Beach Park
Take a Hike!
The Buenaventura Trail from Marina Park to the Ventura Pier is 4 miles round trip. To get to the trailhead, take Hwy 101 and exit on Seaward Ave. Head briefly coastward and turn left (south) on Pierpoint Blvd. Drive to the end of the street and Marina Park.
Start your hike by walking from Marina Park to the end of the jetty and heading up coast. The first mile is fairly narrow with houses lining the shore. The second mile is wider and ends up at the Ventura Pier, where there are stairs from the sand to the pier's boardwalk.
Ventura Pier
The original pier was built in 1872 and now has a restaurant, gift shop, and snack bar. Friendly fishermen will show you their catch, or you can watch the surfers or simply enjoy the view of the Channel Islands, the coast, and the mountains. The north side of the pier has swings and a childrens' play area, as well as Lifeguard service on the weekends during the summer.

Awesome! I woulf definitely like to visit someday in the near future.
What about driving down the famous Ventura Highway? Is any part of that highway even honored for the great America song from the 1970's or is it just freeway, like the way it goes through Camarillo, which I've seen that part before?
