Make the Valentine's Day Game and Craft

The first step in making the Valentine's Day Memory Card craft and game for preschoolers is to gather your cards. You can cut them out of thick paper like card stock. You can make your own playing cards from heavy paper. Standard playing size is 2 and one quarter inches by three and a half inches. Make an even number of cards.

The other option is to use stray playing cards or old trading cards. These can be altered and decorated.

One side should have a Valentine's Day image. Make a matching card. For example, make two cards with a cupid and heart.

When using images from last year's Valentine's Day cards, use a scanner or copy machine to make at least two copies of each image. Glue the matching images onto two different playing cards.

Kids can also decorate the backs of the playing cards.

Once the craft is dry, let the games begin.

Turn the cards with the matching images face down. Be sure to mix up the cards. You and your preschooler or preschoolers can take turn turning over the cards looking for matching cards. The person who finds the most matching pairs at the end of the game wins.

To make the game more challenging, use more cards.

This would be a great project for a classroom. Getting one preschooler to create 52 of anything seems to me like a project mom would end up completing. :)
