Creating a vegetable, herb, or fruit garden can be a nice way to save your family money. Eating fresh foods that come from just steps away from the home instead imported in from all over can give you better flavor and longer-lasting foods. Whether you want to add to your existing food garden or create one this season, these free seed and plant catalogs can help you get started. I like getting a variety of them and plan out my designs. Several can have great information on their websites and through their gardening guides.
This catalog is a free download or shipped free within the United States if ordering a printed copy. They have vegetable seed, garlic and shallot bulbs, and herb seeds. While they do not have a tremendous amount of gardening information on their website, they do have gardening growth guides for some vegetables and herbs under their "Growing Information" link.
Burnt Ridge Nursery and Orchards Catalog
They have free worldwide shipping of their catalog and offer nut trees, fruiting plants, and ornamentals. They have a website with good information on cooking and growing the items in which they specialize.
A free U.S. catalog of vegetables, herbs, fruiting plants, heirlooms, flowers and perennials, the Burpee Seed Catalog also has good gardening information. Under their Gardening Tips and Advice there are how-to videos and a growing calendar. Both great items to have when you are just starting out.
With a specialty in onions, the Dixondale Farms catalog has a catalog available. If you are looking to use a more wider variety of onion and leek than you are currently finding, chances are this company will have what you are looking for. Their website has both online and downloadable learning guides for their customers.
There is a free U.S. catalog available on their website and the company has a wide variety of plants and seed. For food growth, they carry fruits, nuts, and vegetables. Their catalogs typically come with a money saving coupon. My last catalog had a $25 off $50 order coupon attached. It is a good money saving company to start looking at seed and plants.
Kitazawa Seed Company Seed Catalog
Their catalog is available as a free download or as a printed catalog mailed free in the United States. This company specializes in Asian vegetables and they have a website that gives recipes for their vegetables. A nice little extra, the recipes are good if you are looking to expand both your gardening and your taste horizons.
