Free Windows Utilities: Streamline Your PC Use

It is those little things about Windows that make the system awesome, such as the many utilities that are less than ten megabytes yet make your life immeasurably easier. Here are some of my favorite apps that I like to use that compress a lot of greatness in a little bit of space.

Side Note: While the majority of these apps will use less than ten megabytes when installed, some will increase in size depending on how intensively you use them. Don't fret however, most have a negligible amount of stress on the majority of computers.

Taskbar Shuffle

By default Windows does not allow you to rearrange your programs on your taskbar, Taskbar Shuffle remedies this dilemma. Taskbar Shuffle allows you to quickly maneuver programs on the taskbar around, as well as the icons on your system tray. It also allows you close any windows you have open with a quick middle click, which alone may warrant the 6MBs it takes up for admission.

Everything

Everything will probably take up less space than your current wallpaper. Yet despite it's small space consumption, Everything may be more efficient and useful than applications which use 100x more space. Everything will search through your file names, and find what you need at blazing fast speeds. Along with an extremely fast search speed, anyone who uses Google will be familiar and able to use common operators such as AND, OR, etc. to assist them in their searches.

Display Fusion

If you are using one, two, three, or even four monitors at your home computer or office, Display Fusion can be used to drastically change and improve your system's appearance. Display Fusion allows you to use split wallpapers or separate wallpapers from multiple screens, and can also manipulate images from your computers. Display Fusion's most recent update allows users to maintain the Window's taskbar throughout all different monitors.

Revo Uninstaller

In a mystical universe where there is no stress coming from computers, we can simply try out whatever program we want, and if we do not want it we could uninstall it right then and there. However, in the real world, uninstallations are usually always sloppy, but then Revo Uninstaller comes to the rescue. Revo Uninstaller completely scrubs a program as well as any remote traces it may leave on your system running Windows. Additionally, it can also manipulate startup programs. It also has a crosshair mode where you can aim and uninstall whichever program you target.
