Popsicle Sticks
Popsicle sticks for pre-school and kindergarten make for great crafts, and will help your son or daughter develop an interest in woodworking. They are small enough for little children to handle, and are best attached with glue. Depending on their age and maturity level, you may need to help them with the glue, but these ideas are a great start. For those impatient parents out there, don't worry, they will get a little more advanced than popsicle sticks... in a few years. Most of these are perfect for day care, kindergarten, pre-school, cub scouts, girl scouts, or at home!
For the mom or dad who loves to cook, this 3x5 recipe card holder is going to be a great introduction to woodworking, gluing, painting (or markers), and also will teach your son or daughter the importance of showing those you love some appreciation for them and the things they do. Explain that even if you can't help mommy or daddy (or grandma/grandpa) cook, you can help them by making this recipe card holder for them.
Since a lot of recipe cards are bigger than 3x5, have that special child in your life make this recipe card holder as a wedding present if they know someone getting married, for mom or dad, or in many of the same uses you would use for the smaller recipe card holder above.
This project is appropriate for the child with golf loving parents or grandparents, or the child who loves golf themselves. Of course you can modify it to have any sort of theme you may want, or none at all. Let kids come up with their own theme ideas - after all, they know their loved ones very well.
Glitter, glue, and popsicle sticks! What better way for kids to take advantage of the holidays than by making their own winter ornaments. You don't need a tree, or even need to celebrate Christmas to use this pattern, as it can hang anywhere.
With parent's permission, take some pictures of their children, and get them developed. Have each kid make this picture frame, and let them put their own picture in it! What a great mother's or father's day present that a kid can make for their parents!
Enjoy these projects, and I hope the children in your life enjoy them as well!
