Freedom Fight!

A Short Poem in Honor of Black History Month

God made man, both black and white,
To draw them to Himself,
Yet some have had to scratch and fight,
Or sit upon a shelf.

Separate fountains,
Separate lives,
Slavery for years,
No wonder blacks have kept the songs
Of freedom in their ears!

Now those of African descent
Can vote beside the white,
Yet inequality still reigns.
They MUST keep up the fight!

Each hopeful generation
Reaches for a distant star:
The freedom to be black and LOVED
For who they really are!
