Freedom's Flight

April Higney
There is a new horizon,
stretching across the sky. Looking into
the distance, the golden eagle shall fly.

It's wings outstretched gloriously,
so much freedom in it's flight,
carried on life's poetry, the fateful eagle's
solemn plight.

What is sought out in the distance, surpassing
storm clouds on it's journey? Searching through
the new horizon, for it's heart to be set free.

It holds a sense of direction, along it's endurance
quest. Seeking out knowledge and understanding.
Putting it's heart through a test.

There is a new horizon, despite the storm clouds that
may be there. Venturing forth in it's journey, strength
in it's flight through the sky,
carving out it's own destiny,
continuing to fly.
