Freekibble.Com Chooses Halo as Official Sponsor
Halo, Purely for Pets Donates Free Kibble for Shelter Animals
With her parents' help, an 11-year-old girl named Mimi Ausland created the Freekibble websites as a way to feed shelter pets in need. The concept is simple - visitors answer daily animal-related trivia questions on the two sites, and 10 pieces of kibble per question are donated to shelter pets in need. Whether you get the trivia question right or wrong is inconsequential - 10 pieces of dry pet food are donated to shelters for everyone who plays Bow-Wow Trivia and Meow Trivia each day.
That might not seem like a lot of kibble, and in the beginning it probably wasn't. However, with more than 100,000 combined daily visits, Freekibble.com and Freekibblekat.com are now two of the top five most visited animal rescue sites in the world.
With the help of its loyal followers from 137 countries, Freekibble has already donated 3.8 million meals to over 100 different shelters, rescues and pet food banks across America. That's more than 300 tons of pet food!
Why Halo, Purely for Pets?
As you may know, Halo, Purely for Pets is co-owned by comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen was so impressed with the Freekibble sites creator that she invited Mimi to be a guest on her show in late 2008. Now, two years later, Halo and Mimi have formed a special partnership that will allow the Freekibble sites to help a great many pets. In Halo's recent press release announcing the Freekibble sponsorship, Ellen said "I am very proud to say that Halo is the only pet food Freekibble is donating to animal shelters because they believe in the food so much."
Mimi is also excited to be partnering with Halo, because she believes that good, nutritious food helps animals stay healthier and be happier. As official sponsor for Freekibble.com and Freekibblekat.com, Halo, Purely for Pets is donating their premium Spot's Stew dry food for dogs and cats.
How You Can Help
First of all, every piece of kibble helps, so be sure to visit the Freekibble sites to play Bow Wow Trivia and Meow Trivia each day . You can even sign up to receive daily email reminders so you don't forget to play.
You can also help by spreading the word about Freekibble.com and Freekibblekat.com. The more people who visit the Freekibble sites each day to play, the more Halo Spots Stew they can donate to animal shelters. Not only that, you'll learn lots of fun and interesting things about dogs and cats along the way!
