Freihofer's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Consumer Product Review

Thomas J McCabe

At an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting that I recently attended, a box of Freihofer's Chocolate Chip Cookies was offered alongside the coffee pot for attendees to enjoy at their leisure. I grabbed two of the cookies and a cup of coffee as I entered the meeting. The cookies tasted very good and reminded me of homemade chocolate chip cookies. Through the years, I have eaten these cookies several times and have always enjoyed eating them.

At the end of the meeting, I was chatting with some other 'regulars' and the coffee person asked if anybody would like to take home the remainder of the box of cookies. Everyone present, including myself, politely said "no", but then, when I saw that the cookies were about to get thrown out, I changed my mind and gladly took them home.

These cookies seem like a good product to review, so here is one food writer's product review of Freihofer's Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Size
The net weight of the standard - sized package of Freihofer's Chocolate Chip Cookies is 12 ounces. The package holds about 14 two cookie servings. These cookies are not huge in size, but they are not tiny either. The serving size seems to be accurate. Two of these cookies are just the right size portion to satisfy my sweet cravings and appetite. I could eat more of these cookies, but I'm trying to limit my sugar intake

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 12 ounce package of Freihofer's Chocolate Chip Cookies at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets and pharmacies ranges between $3.99 and $4.39. That averages out to roughly $0.30c per serving, or $0.15c per cookie.

Texture / Consistency
These chocolate chip cookies possess a nice and soft, slightly moist texture that speaks of high quality ingredients and expert baking. Similar to a good old fashioned homemade chocolate chip cookie in texture, this variety provides a very pleasing mouth - feel.

Nutritional Facts
Freihofer's Chocolate Chip Cookies contain 120 calories, with 50 calories from fat, per two cookie serving. These cookies also contain 3 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 6 grams total fat, 5 mg of cholesterol, 75 mg of sodium, 16 grams total carbohydrates, less than one gram of dietary fiber, 10 grams of sugars and 1 gram of protein, per two cookie serving.

Taste / Flavor
When it comes to flavor, Freihofer's Chocolate Chip Cookies are sitting near the head of the class. These are the type of cookies that you intend to eat only one of, but end up eating half a dozen.

The balance of cookie dough and chocolate chip flavors in these cookies is just right. The cookie dough part is a nice, mellow counterpart to the decadent chocolate chips. Each of these cookies contains a large number of chocolate chips, which are made of very tasty chocolate.

On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of 9.5.

Packaging
Freihofer's Chocolate Chip Cookies are packaged in a light brown and beigeish cardboard box. Interestingly, the labels on some of the boxes look like wood grain. A full listing of ingredient and nutritional information is also provided.

The box opens easily and re-closes effectively and it features a clear, see through plastic window on the front of the box.

Overall Rating
All things considered, Freihofer's Chocolate Chip Cookies are a very good version of this cookie favorite. While they're not inexpensive, they are high in quality, with a great texture and plenty of flavor. An excellent item to eat at home or a wonderful treat to bring to gatherings, Freihofer's Chocolate Chip Cookies are highly recommended by this food writer.
