Ordering the Incorrect Article
It is very hard to buy the incorrect article when shopping in a customary brick and mortar store. When you do this, you typically physically carry the article up to the sales counter to complete the sale. Though, with online shopping, it is certainly possible to buy the incorrect item. In that case, the customer never physically handles the article before the acquisition is accomplished and the article delivered. Mistakes can happen when the consumer contacts the customer service department to order the items and provides the incorrect product number or when a consumer utilizes the online website of a store and clicks on the incorrect item. Even if the consumer clicks on the correct product and provides a correct product number, he may still make an error in the ordering procedure if there are options such as color or size related to the article. This trouble can be rather upsetting because the consumer will be disappointed when the inappropriate article is received.
Obtaining the Incorrect Article
Even if a consumer does not make a mistake through the ordering process, it is still probably for the consumer to have the incorrect article delivered to them. This sometimes happens when the order is completed by hand and a mistake is done in the warehouse. The warehouse might send the right article but in the wrong color or size or send the wrong article entirely. Unfortunately, the customer won't even know about the error until they receive the order. The online company will probably take the blame for the incorrect item and take responsibility for returning and resending out the correct item as soon as possible. Nevertheless, this may not entirely correct the trouble in all cases. For instance, the customer might have purchased the item for a special occasion and may not get it back in time for the event.
The Need to Send Back an Article
There could also be times that the consumer ordered the wrong item or where the online store mistakenly ships the wrong item and in both these situations, the consumer would have to send back the item. Even though to some this might not be a big deal, but it can be quite upsetting for some people. In particular, online shoppers who do their shopping online expressly for the reason they work weird hours, might have a lot of trouble making returns. The problem is that you usually have to take the return item to the post office or UPS to ship it back. When you work, it might be difficult to go to the post office during regular business hours and have to take time off work in order to do this.
So, as you can see, even though it is effortless to shop online, there may be troubles at times.

Post a CommentI've ordered the incorrect item online and it's a real hassle. Excellent article. :-)
In my case the article not being in stock, even though advertised.
I order online very often. I have had all good experiences for the most part except ordering a wrong size shoe here or there... Also, the product looked very different in person once when I ordered online.
We've only ever ordered a few things online. So far no problems!
What I hate about having to return an item online is having to pay shipping fees. If it's the store's fault, they usually pay the shipping but if the person makes a mistake, they have to pay the shipping and sometimes it is not worth it to return it (if the item is low cost).
