Fresh - a Rhymed Review of Starting Anew

Linda Ann Nickerson

I once was innocent and clean
Before I learned my way,
Before I yearned for things between,
And then I turned away.

Because I died, you may be whole;
I rose, so you can rise.
When angels call and clouds unfold,
Come; meet Me in the skies.

My feet, they lead me far afield;
My hands, they reach for more.
My eyes, they seek beyond Your shield
To things I should abhor.
I dream of days when I'll desire
Your honor and Your face,
To bow and lift You higher and higher,
Your name no more disgrace.

Because I died, you may be whole;
I rose, so you can rise.
When angels call and clouds unfold,
Come; meet Me in the skies.

Give me a glimpse of purity
Of glory from above,
That I may rest in surety,
Your confidence and love.
For I believe, but help my doubt;
Oh, take my failings; cast them out.
My heart knows not what it's about;
Give me desire to be devout.

Because I died, you may be whole;
I rose, so you can rise.
When angels call and clouds unfold,
Come; meet Me in the skies.
