Fresh Strawberry Recipes

I am a firm believer in the saying that what you eat is what you are. Fruits and vegetables are great part of my diet. Right now, as fresh strawberries are in season, I have been enjoying them in great many ways. Not only do they taste great, strawberries have beneficial effect on our health. Strawberries have high amount of vitamins such as vitamin C, which helps boost our immune system's response to invaders. They are also packed with antioxidants (attack free radicals that damage cells), are high in potassium, folate, and fiber to name some. Below are some of the best ways to enjoy fresh strawberries:

Strawberry Smoothie or Shake:

1. Get ample amount of fresh or frozen strawberries.

2. Put in a blender and add one to two scoops of your favorite ice cream (or just ice if you are conscious of your calorie intake).

3. Pour one to two glasses of nonfat milk.

4. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy.

5. Pour in your favorite glass and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or add whip cream.

6. Enjoy!

Note: An 8 ounce glass of this shake will replace a meal so if you are calorie conscious, you should not eat much of a meal as you have this shake.

Strawberry-Banana Smoothie or Shake:
1. Get ample strawberries and about one banana.

2. Clean, cut, and put in blender.

3. Add your favorite ice cream (or just ice if you are conscious of your calorie intake) and a glass of nonfat milk depending on how thick you want your shake.

4. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy.

5. Pour in a glass and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or whip cream.

6. Enjoy

Note: An 8 ounce glass of this shake will replace a meal so if you are calorie conscious, you should not eat much of a meal as you have this shake.

Fresh Strawberries with Whipped Cream or Chocolate:

1. Cut up as much strawberries as you want and pour in your favorite bowl.

2. Spray with light whipped cream or dip in melted chocolate.

3. Enjoy

Fresh Strawberries with Pancake or Waffles:
1. Prepare pancake or waffles as you normally do.

2. Cut fresh strawberries and garnish your pancake or waffles with them. Cover with whipped cream or syrup.

3. Enjoy

Other Strawberry Tips:

Since we are in fresh strawberry season, you might want to buy in bulk and freeze some of them. They are cheap now but won't be that cheap in a few weeks or months. Frozen strawberries are great for smoothies and shakes, and you can use them in baking as well. If you prefer, you can also cut fresh strawberries and dry them up for later use in cereals or alone as snacks.
