Freshaire Choice Eco-friendly Paint Review

Beth Inman
Everyone who knows me knows I love to paint. They also know what a serious problem I have with my sinuses. As much as I love painting, it can be a real problem for me; at least until the paint has dried good. Always searching for green products that will perform well while protecting the environment; I stumbled upon Home Depot's new paint line. Freshaire Choice paint is VOC free. What are VOC's? Volatile Organic Compounds and these compounds will contribute to the pollution of your interior air both while you are painting and for years to follow. Home Depot had made a great contribution to eco-friendly home decorating with Freshaire choice paint.

I painted my bedroom with Summer Dragonfly (FA049), one of Freshaire choice's 66 colors. Choose your color from one of the four collections: Waterscape, Earth, Botanical and Atmosphere. Summer Dragonfly helped me to create a serene oasis in which I can relax at the end of a long day in the office.

I painted over a warm mauve color, rich in reddish pigment. It did take two coats of paint to cover well, but the paint went on very nice. I applied the Freshaire choice paint with a roller, and found that it went on nice and smooth. I was really impressed with the smell, or lack of smell I should say. I welcomed a visitor in the front door of my while about halfway through the bedroom project. She was very surprised when I took her into my bedroom to see my new project. She was as impressed as I with the odorless application of paint color. When choosing paint, make certain that both the paint and the colorant are VOC to ensure a true odorless, eco-friendly product.

The sales person at Home Depot was very helpful, explaining VOC's and their impact on the environment. My paint was mixed to perfection without a long wait. Honestly, this is the first time I have purchased my paint at Home Depot, but I will definitely return for my kitchen color...when I can decide what it will be once and for all.

Overall, a great choice, an eco-friendly paint for around $36 a gallon. Sold exclusively at Home Depot, Freshaire choice paint is a little pricier than regular wall paints, but it is considerably less expensive than other environmental friendly paints.

Overall, I was very pleased with Home Depot's Freshaire choice paint. Another great Home Depot contribution!

Excellent review. I have thought about using this kind of paint the next time. Regular just smells so bad, for so long. Thanks.

Hi Karen, I live in a rural area...chances are you know half the people that work there :-) Never had a bit of trouble and most people there are pretty helpful.

Sounds like you have better service at your Home Depot than the ones here!
