Friday Tidbits - 11/9/07

Adrian Peterson broke the single-game rushing record with 296 yards. He's scary good. His teammate, Troy Williamson, got docked a game's pay for attending his grandma's funerual. New England remained undefeated as Tom Brady (3 TDs)brought them back to hand the Colts their first loss. There was a little hype for this game. There were some big name injuries as Frank Gore missed SF's game, Chad and Larry Johnson left their games with neck and foot injuries, and Jay Cutler left with a leg injury. Drew Brees continued to storm back with 445 yards and 3 TDs. Reggie Bush had over 100 rushing and receiving. The Lions improved to 6-2 by destroying the Broncos. Brett Favre tossed for 360 yards. MeO torched the Eagles for 174 yards, and got fined $10K for waiving a towel on the sidelines. Big Ben tossed 5 TD passes. Look out people, Chris Henry has been activated and ready to play. Hopefully, he doesn't get arrested before game time. Tank Johnson has also been cleared to play. He just needs to get through the metal detector first. PacMoron Jones was told he's not getting an early release from his suspension.

Seattle declined the option on Jose Guill*n. Tough week as his name has been linked to steroids, along with Matt Willi*ms. The Red Sox picked up Tim Wakefield's. Sammy S*sa wants $7 million to play steroid-aided baseball next year. Joe Torre looks weird in Dodger blue. $ource$ $ay A-Rod wanted $350 million to $tay with the Yankee$. I don't like this guy. Greg Maddux is returning to the Padres for $10 million. I really do like this guy. Curt Schilling will be back with Boston one more year. I really, really like this guy. Columbus' Pascal Leclaire against St. Louis. Carolina's Cam Ward against Washington. Pittsburgh's Dany Sabourin against New Jersey. New York Rangers' Henrik Lundqvist for against Philly. Dallas' Marty Turco against Anaheim. Montreal's Cristobal Huet vs. Buffalo. Atlanta's Ilya Kovalchuk, Carolina's Cory Stillman, and Phoenix's Peter Mueller netted hat tricks. There were five shutouts on Monday night. Buffalo will be without Tim Connolly and Adam Mair with abdomen and ankle injuries. Todd White scored his 100th career goal. Eric Lindors officially retired. Cincinnati upset #18 South Florida. #23 Virginia barely got by #24 Wake Forest. Arkansas RB Darren McFadden tied an SEC record with 321 rushing yards against South Carolina. He combined with Felix Jones for 487 yards, which is an NCAA record . Virginia lost RB Cedric Peerman for the year. Maryland will be without James Gist and Landon Milbourne for their season opener because of NCAA violations. UW-Milwaukee kicked leading scorer Avery Smith to the curb for rule violations. Florida State extended coach Leonard Hamilton's contract.
