Friday's Stupid Headlines there's 2

Federal Agents Raid Gun Shop, Find Weapons

The headline this round though funny is referring to "weapons" of a different sort in the raid of a gun shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Owner Thao Dinh Le was arrested after over a dozen cardboard boxes were discovered in the gun store full of high end explosives. Hand grenades, land mines, dynamite and other explosives were found inside the boxes.

The FBI estimates there are approximately 200 million guns in the United States (FBI, 2011).With this in mind a person has to wonder how many of those 200 million are in the hands of criminals. The debate over guns in America and their impact on criminal activity is heated to say the least. Many opponents toward gun control arguably state that guns restricted within the private sector will escalate the number of violent crimes in America.

This could potentially ring true since the criminal element would be aware of this even though they seem most generally oblivious to the laws of the land. Homeowners, small business, private citizens in general would be unable to protect themselves from a criminal act.

Dollars to doughnuts citizens of the United States can make a fair bet that with guns being extracted from the private sector mass criminal activity would likely ensue. Still others opposed to gun control and restrictions of ownership by law abiding citizens believe such an action would leave police and other first responders solely to deal with crime. This would likely result in the biting off far more than they can chew syndrome. The constitutional aspects of the debate also come into play with many Americans taking the right to bear arms very seriously.

Anyway, speaking of doughnuts...

Greek Police Smash Violent Doughnut Ring

Ok, Greece was that absolutely necessary? I guess the police in Greece prefer the doughnut holes over the doughnut ring itself.

Turns out that one doughnut shop in Greece, and in competition with other doughnut shops in the area, felt that violence may be the answer to better business for their shop. Paliouri beach in the Halkidiki peninsula near Thessaloniki became a hotbed for blackmail and fraud through the tactics of the two Bulgarian business owners.

To make matters worse the two doughnut shop owners stashed away their product in an abandoned hotel that was apparently used often by beach goers and trespassers alike. These beach goers often used the hotel as their own personal toilet. One thing is certain, they do not treat doughnuts very nice in Greece or so it would seem.
