Friend

Nature won't notice a natural event.
The day will continue without a whimper.
I'll probably have plans unfolding
And appointments to be met.
If there is time, some memories
Will once again sound a sad refrain,
And some will strike a note of joy.
Of the difficulty I only speculate,
But if I can have close to me
Loving souls happy to have known me,
I'll acquiesce with a smile.
Some say they had rather not know when,
Some say it doesn't matter.
I am brave enough to want to know,
And just in case that time is near
I'll live each day the best I can.
So, friend, I am saying now
That you mean a lot to me...I love you.
I value and celebrate life more
Because I am blessed to be alive
