Friendly Spam

In researching this article for more information, I actually found blogs and articles on -'friendly spam." I was truly mistaken into thinking I had an original idea. One website suggested the political correct behavior of asking friends and family what type of spam they would accept.

This is not work email. This is email on my personal computer, in my personal email account. Do we as friends encourage "friendly spam?" You open the email because you recognize it's from a friend. It's the guy that's always good for a funny joke. You read it and laugh, burning 100 calories. You think to yourself, this is a great joke! I must share it with everyone my friend did not email. My other friend deserve to burn 100 calories! So you FWD! What's sad-a year to the day, you get the same email back. It's been to hundred of countries, but it makes its way back to your inbox. My spammers now have their own folders-jokes, ads, interesting articles, don't stop->go to spam (folder), trash (I may go back and check those again), and the inbox. I don't get the virus alerts or urban legends as much as anymore. My friends are smart enough now to go to Snopes, or Google. We have the time requirement emails. Send this in 10 minutes or your teeth will fall out. Then there are the forward requirements - sent this to ten of your friends or you won't have any friends. Problem is you keep getting the same email back from the ten ex-friends. Now we are into the presidential race. There are political articles, gossips, jokes, petitions, and embarrassing pictures of politicians.

What do you do when you own mother spam you? She sends the picture of relatives you don't recognize. You pass those emails on to your brothers and sisters in case your mother forgot to forward. Then it the religious emails she sends. The ones she got the Ladies' Club at church that you have to keep going. The news about the building fund, the church dinners and other fund raisers are so interesting.

Not finished yet. I now have four personal email addresses. Yes, my biggest friendly spammers now have their own email address. They feel really special, and I prioritized my email responses. I know who they are and what kind of emails they send. I can ignore or read them.
