An intimate group of friends and family united at a Farrah Fawcett Foundation benefit event to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the star's death. Fawcett, who passed away the same day as music legend Michael Jackson, started the Farrah Fawcett Foundation several years before her death. The Foundation funds alternative cancer treatments.

The Charlie's Angels star, known for her abundant golden locks and marriage to actor Lee Majors, battled cancer for three years. She succumbed to the disease at age 62 in a Santa Monica hospital before she could see her Foundation reach fruition. The facility has grown to the point that it had to move to a new building in Los Angeles.

Fawcett's loved ones met on Friday, the anniversary of her death, to cut the ribbon to the new building. In addition to performing cancer research, one Foundation goal is to improve the quality of life of cancer patients.

In attendance were good friend Alana Stewart, said to be with Fawcett at the time of her death. Stewart has said that Fawcett was much more like a sister than a friend. Family members in attendance included Ryan, Tatum and Redmond O' Neal. Redmond was jailed at the time of Fawcett's death. He visited her grave for the first time Friday.
