Friends the Movie? I'll Be There

After Sex and The City the movie, made it to the big screen, there has been rumor floating that Friends the Movie was not far behind. According to yahoo buzz, and movie moron.com, it seems that Warner Bros is scheduling the filming of the movie within 18 months.

All of the cast members were believed to have agreed to the movie, with Aniston being the only one "dragging her heels" into the movie. But she has since said yes to being a part of the movie, and it is rumored that the reason was because of Sex and The City's success at the box office.

It would be great to see the six friends gather one more time at Central Perk and talk about whatever. It would also be great to see added characters such as Ross and Rachel's daughter and Monica and Chandler's twins.

For those who may be unfamiliar with Friends, Friends was the hit TV sitcom that lasted ten years(1994 - 2004). The show was about six young friends, trying to find happiness and success in Manhattan. Because of this every show was catered toward something happening to all of them, which would make that road longer than it should.

The stars of the show were:

Rachel played by Jennifer Aniston, whom at the beginning of the show is portrayed as a bratty daddy's little rich girl. But after her daddy cuts off her credit cards, after she leaves her husband at the altar, her character is transformed from daddy's little rich girl to a successful independent woman.

Monica(Courtney Cox-Arquette), a compulsive neat freak, who had been overweight in high school and loses the weight. She becomes a head chef and is trying to find the guy that will make her life complete. She doesn't realize that the guy had been in her life all of these years.

Ross(David Schwimmer), Monica's brother, who had three failed marriages. His first wife left him after having discovered that she was gay. She decided to raise their son by including her partner as well. His second wife left him after he called Rachel on the night they were supposed to get married. His third wife and the mother of his second child, was Rachel. This marriage happened after they became drunk one night and the baby was the result of the night.

Chandler(Matthew Perry), was possibly the richest out of all of them, aside from the fact that no one knew what he did other than data processing. He also had a cigarette habit and married Monica after they secretly started dating while they were waiting for Ross to get married for the second time.

Chandler was one of the funniest characters aside from Joey(Matt Leblanc), a struggling actor, who is so sweet, adorable and good looking that it doesn't matter that he doesn't know what two plus two is.

Phoebe(Lisa Kudrow), was a loveable character and she was a little ditzy at times, and almost as clueless as Joey. She grew up without a father, and after she met her brother from her father's side, for the first time, she agreed to be his surrogate mother and gave birth to three babies.

And who can forget Gunther?(James Michael Tyler), Central Perk's manager and the guy who was obsessed with Rachel far more than Ross which made for creepy laughter every episode he was on. It is unknown whether he will be a part of the movie as well.

These six made the show what is was, and had any of them been replaced with someone it else, it would never have lasted as long as it did. Watching this sitcom for ten years became so addicting that it was sad to see it go. When the show ended, Joey and Phoebe were going to move on with their lives, Monica and Chandler were getting ready to go to their new home with their adopted twins, and Ross and Rachel were finally back together after their on and off relationship.

Now once this movie becomes a reality, it will most likely be as successful as the show and many people will be lining up to see it. Will you?

I love everything in print and showing my three children the joys as well. I believe that writing should be done whether you wish to gain from it or not as a way to express yourself.  View profile

Does this mean all successful sitcoms will get a movie now? Do we really need to see the Olsen twins hook up with the rest of the full house crew? Or Urkel's zany adventures in a 3D Family Matters film? I actually wouldn't mind seeing a parody movie featuring stars from all those old shows.
