Frigidaire Energy Star Front Loading Washing Machine Review

I Love My Washing Machine

Kathi Downs
I am the proud owner of a Frigidaire Energy Star front loading wash machine, and I wouldn't trade it for any other appliance on the market.

I have to be honest, and admit that the reason I went with Frigidaire originally, was I could get the washer in 'all white.' Even though most other brands of washing machines came in white, the bands around the knobs were dark; or there was a dark band around the top. That was not what I wanted; I wanted all white, and that's what I got with my Frigidaire Energy Star.

The price was good, at just a little over $800, but, besides the all white of the machine, the thing that sold me was the size of the washing basket. It was huge! I could wash my quilts and comforters in my washing machine, and not have to go to the Laundromat, every time I needed to freshen the comforters. My old machine, a top-loader, had an extra large load capacity, but I usually could only fit one quilt in at a time. I never could get comforters in. I could have stuffed them in I guess, but they wouldn't have gotten clean.

There are so many features on my Frigidaire Energy Star that I have just absolutely fallen in love with, I can't really choose which I love the best.

Dispensers

There is a totally different dispenser for the detergent, bleach and the fabric softener. When the water comes through and washes each into the washer, it doesn't splash some into the next dispenser. This happens in a lot of washing machines, and it can create a mess.

Start Delay

My Frigidaire Energy Star has a 12-hour delay start. I have to admit I have only used this a couple of times, but I like having this option. A couple of times, when one of my grandkids stayed the night with me, they had an accident. We could just strip the bed, throw the sheets in the washer, load up with detergent and fabric softener, set the timer and go off to work and school. The machine was just getting done when I got home. Even though it hasn't been used much, it is a convenience that is real nice to have.

Indicator Lights

It is nice not to have to look for the little line to see which cycle the machine is on. All you have to do is see which light is on. And even better, there is a little box on the top right that lets you know how much time is left in the washing.

Door Lock

The machine will not turn on unless the door is closed. When the door is closed, and the machine turned on; the door locks and a light comes on indicating that the door is locked. I really like this safety feature with little ones around a lot.

When my husband and I bought the machines, we had the options of leaving the machines the way they were, and if we chose to, we could put them under the counter. We opted not to do this, as we are both tall. So we paid a little extra and got the pedestals for both the washer and dryer. After we moved into our house, we took the pedestal off the dryer; paid $27 for a stack kit, and stacked the dryer on the washer.

Like I said earlier, I love my Frigidaire Energy Star. If I should ever have to buy another washing machine, I plan on getting the exact same one; or as close

  • Seperate Dispensers
  • Indicator lights let you know where you are at in the cycle.
  • When machine is in use, the door locks.
There are probably other washing machines on the market that are just as good as the Frigidaire Energy Star, but I haven't seen it.
