Product Overview:
The Frigidaire GLEC36S8ES cook top is a member of their gallery series of cook tops. The one I am reviewing is has a fantastic high quality white porcelain surface. The dimensions of this cook top are 36.8 inches wide x 21.4 inches deep x 3.3 inches in height. This model sits perfectly flush with my counters and really makes a nice accent to my kitchen. I was initially concerned with how easy it would be to keep clean however with the right products it has been fairly simple. I would recommend purchasing a product specifically designed for ceramic counter top stoves.
Some of my favorite features of Frigidaire's GLEC36S8ES are the expandable elements. There are several different set ups available which include the standard 6 inch burners as well as a 6 to 9 inch expandable element. One of the neatest features includes a griddle feature which allows for a surface of 7 by 18 inches to become heated. This has been a great feature for cooking pancakes. The elements heat relatively slowly compared to some of the other counter top stoves that I've used in the past. However it is capable of producing upwards of 2,500 watts so you won't have to worry about it being underpowered.
This particular stove top has all of its controls in the front so you won't have to worry about reaching over a hot stove to adjust temperatures. Other nice features include a warming area to keep dishes hot until its time to serve them as well as the obligatory warning light indicating that a burner is still warm.
Value:
Frigidaire's GLEC36S8ES stove top comes in at a price around $750 in your local appliance store. This puts it right in line with other high quality stoves on the market right now. This is an excellent countertop model for the money and will last for a long time if taken care of properly. Another tip is to look for price reductions towards the end of the year as retailers fight for consumers during the struggling economy.

Post a CommentAn empty water glass knocked over from side of Frigidaire's ceramic top (FES365ECE) will break it. Yet, the water glass will not break from such a light tumble. Terrible quality, and expensive to replace - buy a new stove from another maker!
