The Frisbee inventor dies leaving behind the fantastic flying disc he started designing back in 1937. He started with a popcorn tin lid then went to a cake pan. Morrison then wound up a fighter pilot in World War II. CNN reported according to Wham-O, Morrison was held as a POW for 48 days.
The predecessors to the Frisbee include Morrison's Whirl-Away and Pluto Platter. In 1957, Wham-O signed a contract with Morrison for the Frisbee. The name came from empty tins tossed by New England college kids. The tins were made by the Frisbee Pie Co.
Before the Frisbee inventor dies, over 200 million of these flying discs were sold. Thank you and rest in peace, Fred Morrison.
