Frito-Lay's Natural Tostitos Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips: Review

Tostitos for Those Chemically Sensitive to Food Additives

Sherry Tomfeld
Love good food but you're chemically sensitive? I wanted to find a great tortilla chip that I could eat without any side effects from MSG or other additives. I found such a tortilla chip, they are called Natural Tostitos. This is a yellow corn tortilla chip and it is ORGANIC! Reading this on the label gave me hope. But how good are they?

Frito-Lay's came out with a "natural" line of products. What does this mean to consumers? It means no MSG and additives in this product line. The natural yellow tortilla chips are made without msg, gluten, lactose, additives, soy or onion. Frito-Lay uses whole organic corn, expeller-pressed sunflower oil and sea salt. Tostitos also have no artificial flavorings or colors. This sounded great but so do other "natural" and organic products only to be disappointing when it comes to flavor.

I love the flavor of these chips. They are crunchy and crispy. I not only used them for snacks and meals that call for tortilla chips, I use them in place of regular potato chips. Why? What makes me rave about these chips?

They are sturdy. You can put a heavy dip on these chips and they do not break like other brands of tortilla chips. Tostitos have such a great flavor that you will want to snack on them by themselves. Frito-Lay's Tostitos are BIG tortilla chips. A serving is considered to be 6 chips. That doesn't sound like much until you see the size of the chips.

Tostitos are certified organic by Oregon Tilth. If you are not satisfied with these natural organic yellow tortilla chips, let Frito-Lay know. They have a satisfaction guarantee on this product. The only drawback that I have is the price. Yet with the big tortilla chips and having no bad reaction to eating them, the price is definitely worth it to me. They are a few cents more to buy than many other non organic brands.

Natural Tostitos are now a staple at our house. I plan on trying more products from the Frito-Lay Natural line soon. If you are chemically sensitive or have chosen to eat more organic foods, go to Frito-Lay's website and see if their organic product line is exactly what you're looking for too!
