Frizz Prevention Tips to Beat Bad Hair Days

Sabah Karimi

When humidity levels are at their highest or you just didn't get a chance to wash and style your hair as usual in the morning, frizzy and unruly hair could end up ruining your day. Bad hair days that are a result of out-of-control frizz don't have to be a part of your weekly regimen. Taking a few simple steps to ward off frizz and keep your hair looking shiny is all it takes to get through the week without a single bad hair day. Use some of these simple frizz prevention tips to kick bad hair days to the curb:

Let Your Hair Partially Dry Naturally

Excessive use of a blow dryer can damage your hair and make it prone to frizz. If your hair tends to get frizzy more often than not, let your hair dry naturally before you turn the blow dryer on. Blow drying slightly wet or damp hair is much easier on your strands and can prevent excess damage that leads to frizz. Use the lowest heat setting whenever you can, and always blow dry only a small section at a time to ensure your hair gets dried completely and all the way through.

Use a Frizz Control Spray when Styling

Frizz control spray can be especially effective during the peak of summer and on any day when the humidity index is expected to reach an all-time high. Use a small amount of frizz control spray or serum on damp hair, and make sure you brush it all the way through before drying and styling. My hair is fairly long so I like to apply some of this hair product to my hair with a wide-tooth comb. This helps to distribute the product all the way to the tips and helps to keep frizz at bay all day long.

Invest in a Quality Hair Conditioner

If you're not using a conditioner that moisturizes your hair properly, you could be setting yourself up for damaged and weak strands. Play around with your beauty budget and make sure you're buying high-quality versions of the basics. A deep-conditioning treatment and hydrating conditioner are essential for keeping your hair smooth, silky and frizz-free all week long. When your hair is healthy and resilient, you'll find it much easier to style it -- even when humidity levels are at their peak this season. Choose a conditioner that is designed specifically for your hair type and be consistent with using it in conjunction with a weekly deep-conditioning treatment.
