From Dusk to Dawn

Darla M. Beck
The vampire awakens at dusk,

to prowl throughout the night.

He silently stalks his victims,

on their necks he leaves a bite.

He savors their life-giving blood,

losing himself in the total ecstasy.

His strength has been renewed,

into the dark night he will flee.

Before the early dawn appears,

he quickly returns to his lair.

For the sunlight he cannot abide,

the nighttime he can only bear.
