From Firefox to Google Chrome

Shatter Resistant
I've recently had to choose a new browser instead of Firefox. It was inevitable that one day Firefox was going to be too slow to run properly anymore. Sure, it loads web pages quickly and seems snappy and responsive enough. But the problem is, it takes 5 minutes to start and takes up too much memory. I've tried everything I can think of including new profiles and uninstalling plugins. So, the search begins...

Internet Explorer 8

Yeah, you got it instantly, I'm a developer and I hate it to the core. It doesn't show webpages properly, it's not got the latest javascript engines and it almost as slow as my bogged down Firefox when it's starting. Sorry Microsoft, but you just don't do it for me in the browser market.

Apple Safari

Being quite a fan of Windows (especially Windows 7), I had some natural resentment towards Apple's browser. I mean, I love my iPod Touch and I do occasionally use the Safari browser on there. So, I gave it a go and was deeply disappointed. It's rendering engine was just wrong after using Firefox. Things loaded in all the wrong order and with the latest web technologies it sometimes struggled to keep up. Javascript was shockingly slow as well. Unfortunatly this was also a no.

Google Chrome

With Chrome being Google's most recent product launch (I think), I was a little bit worried about trying it at all. I thought it would be unstable and brimming with dangerous bugs ready to crash my beautiful Windows laptop. I think I was wrong. Using Chrome for the first time did seem a little alien but something about its snappy load and clever Javascript engine (which beats Firefox hands down), it really made me stop and think twice. Even with slide in and out tabs and other design features which should in theory slow down a browser, it's still easily the fastest to load. Google Chrome does it all for me at the moment conbining speed and decent rendering engines to make an almost perfect browser. Now let's have some more plugins!
