From God's Lips to Mom's Ears

A Mother's Day Poem in Memory of a Special Mom

Deb Martin-Webster
I brought you flowers hope you like them
I ordered them for you weeks ago
tulips are your favorite yes I remember
no I did not spend too much

I have applied for the job you asked about
it is in California is that okay
you know how much I love the ocean
I think I will like it there

My boyfriend says to follow my heart
or should I say my fiancé
he proposed to me at the baseball game
our kiss was shared by millions on the big screen

Yes I know I have gained some weight
it has been from stress you understand
I will slim down by my wedding day
the dress is size twelve with lace

It seems like only moments ago
that we were told you had passed away
well it is getting late I had better go
I love you mom Happy Mother's Day

Most of the time it is David, however at the time of my mother's death I was talking directly to God in hopes from God's lips the message would be heard by my mom. That was over 21 years ago and it still feels like yesterday. Thanks so much for the read everyone!

In my family, it was the inverse, I guess. Someone would say something nice and an appropriate comment would be "From your mouth to God's ear." Guess it works both ways!

Beautiful tribute. Congrats on the job, fiance and all the good in your life. Your mother is looking down with a proud and loving heart I am sure.
