for the words of a madman's
masquerade in the collar of God,
affixing scales to his eyes

torn away too late
to save himself
from the shot of a gun
pounding in time with his heart
pumping out liter after liter of

apologies to an angel's ghost
that strokes his hair
soaked in blood staining her

hands folded in prayer,
he begs forgiveness
he knew not what he had done
only what he was told

fade to black &
take the final bow before God
with no encore
he hears the angels chant

"God the Father
have mercy on Your servant."
