From Runway to Reality

They dominate the covers of every magazine and are the topic of every blog on the net, they're the "It" girls or Young Hollywood" and their fashion trends are practically unavoidable. Everyone from Lauren Conrad to the entire cast of Gossip Girl has had an influential impact on the way we dress today, pushing fashion trends to unattainable limits with their Gucci Bags and Couture dresses. (We are in a recession. Aren't we?)

But thanks to retailers such as Forever 21 and H&M, most overly exposed trends have been made affordable. Not only do they don a nice price tag, the designs carried in these stores are often so close to runway looks, you'll probably question the next designer dress you see Sienna Miller in. From apparel to accessories these retailers have expanded their assortment offering everything to complete a head to toe trendy look.

If shopping in department stores is still more you're thing, try searching the more "affordable" floors for great pieces. Brands such as BCBGeneration, Aqua and James Perse are always up to par with current trends and usually priced affordably. Avoid off-price retailers for bargains, as they usually stock out of season goods and past collections. If you have a keen eye, thrift shopping can get you a reoccurring fashion piece at a great price, but go prepared with knowledge of current trends and a lot of patience!

When it comes to creating a fashionable look of the moment, avoid investing too much money. Sure a timeless piece such as a cashmere sweater or a pencil skirt is probably worth the couture price, but otherwise use a little creativity to re-create some of the looks worn by your favorite celebrity.
